On Sunday 8 March the annual Parent and Child Tournament was played again, as is tradition. Just like last year, ten family teams signed up. Last year's finalists sadly could not make it this year, so the fight for the title was wide open. Every point was fought for with great commitment, with many exciting matches!

After the first round, Max/Frank and Roshan/Navin qualified for the main round from one group. The other group was much closer, with three teams tied for first place. On head-to-head results, Mick/Erwin and Thom/Michael went through to the main tournament. In the end, somewhat surprisingly, the final was between the two runners-up from the first round, Thom/Michael and Roshan/Navin. After an exciting doubles, Thom made it a decisive 2-0 by beating Roshan. So the challenge cup will spend a year at the Slijkerman home.

The final of the consolation tournament was the ultimate family affair, with Apple/Grace against Alex/Andrew. Another exciting doubles here, decided when Alex beat his brother Apple.

This coming Sunday is part two of the family tournament, for the teams that have outgrown the Parent and Child Tournament. And of course there will be another Parent and Child Tournament next year in March/April!
